Q:
Where do the birds go after they are released?
A: These birds use their homing ability to return to their home in our loft. We spend many, many hours training our birds to ensure their safe return.  Every one of our birds is banded with our name and phone number. If the bird were to have trouble finding home, we can be contacted easily.

Q:
How do they get back home?
A: These birds are trained for months before their first release. No one knows for sure how the birds know their way, but this ability is truly amazing.  Our birds are trained in a 50 mile radius of our loft.

Q: Why can’t I buy doves at the pet store and release them?
A: Never do this!  These birds have no homing ability.  They are defenseless and have no ability to survive in the wild.  They will most certainly fall prey to wild animals.  In fact, the release of untrained doves is considered cruelty to animals and is illegal in many municipalities.

Q: Will the birds make a mess on my guests?
A: When the birds fly, they tuck their legs under their bodies.  This makes it nearly impossible for them to have an accident.  When the birds are handled for hand release, they are held in the same fashion. While we are unable to make any guarantees, an accident is highly unlikely.

Q: How much notice do you need?
A: For weddings, we advise that you hold the date with a deposit as early as possible.  We have a limited number of birds and handlers.  For funerals, please call any time.  We will do a release whenever it is safe to fly the birds.

Q: What types of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash or check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

Q: What is your release area?
A: We release doves within a 50 mile radius of Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania.  Package prices will vary depending upon the distance we must travel.

Q: At what point in the wedding ceremony are the doves released?
A: While you are welcome to release your doves at any point during an outdoor ceremony, they are typically released following the first kiss.  For a church ceremony, the most picturesque time to release the birds is just before you descend the steps.

Q: Are there any rules that must be followed?
A:

Because we care dearly for our birds, we must take every precaution to ensure their safety.   These policies are in place to protect our birds:

  • Birds are released outdoors only.
  • Birds may be released from sun-up to one hour prior to dark.
  • We will not ship birds for self-release.
  • We do not release birds in inclement weather, including dense fog, torrential rain, snow, ice, or any other severe conditions.
  • We do not release birds beneath power lines or dense tree cover.
  • We do not release birds when birds of prey are visible.
